Fuzhou University of International Studies and Trade (FUIST) is a full-time undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education. Founded in 2004, it is an initiator and Vice Chairman of the Non-profit Private University Alliance, and the Executive Vice Chairman of the Higher Education Professional Committee of the China Association for Non-Government Education. FUIST has been authorized as a master's degree-granting unit and designated as a first-class application-oriented university in Fujian Province. FUIST's development potential tops the list among private undergraduate universities in Fujian Province. Among them, indicators such as resource integration, personnel training, scientific research, social service, and comprehensive reputation all rank first among private undergraduate universities. In the 2025 Alumni Association China University Rankings, the university's comprehensive index increased to the third place in the ranking of private universities in China (finance and economics), topping the ranking in Fujian Province for seven consecutive years and emerging as one of the top-level private finance and economics universities in China.
Changle, hailed as ‘a famous seaside area culturally abundant in literature’, is a district of Fuzhou City, the capital of Fujian Province, where FUIST is located, covering an area of more than 2,400 mu, including a campus building area of over 650,000 square meters, teaching instruments and equipment of RMB 167.194 million, a library collection of over 3 million volumes and over 160 teaching laboratories, in addition to over 300 off-campus practical teaching bases.
FUIST promotes internationalization and open education through various measures to strengthen educational exchanges and integration between Fujian and Taiwan. FUIST is the first private university in Fujian Province to be qualified for enrolling international students. It is also the first private university qualified for enrolling undergraduates from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, one of the first batch of pilot colleges and universities to cooperate with Taiwan universities on education, designated as an Overseas Chinese Education Base in Fujian Province, and the advanced unit of employing foreign cultural and educational experts in Fuzhou City, has been cooperating with more than 30 foreign high-level institutions. To actively respond to the “Belt and Road” Initiative of China, FUIST primarily enrolls international students from Belt and Road countries”, including more than 230 students from Guinea, Nepal, Laos, Mongolia, Cameroon, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Morocco, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana and other countries along the “Belt and Road”, as well as United States.
I. Programs Offered (Taught in English)
(1) International Economics and Trade (Bachelor's Degree)

Program Description: The International Economics and Trade major of Fuzhou University of International Studies and Trade was selected as one of the first batch of National First-Class Undergraduate Program in 2019. It serves as the core major of Fujian Province's "Applied Economics" provincial applied discipline and the "International Trade Demonstration Applied Talent Cultivation Major Cluster" provincial demonstration major cluster, and has been rated a 6-star "Top Applied Major in China" by the 2025 Airuishen (Cuaa.net). This program is dedicated to cultivating applied, interdisciplinary, and innovative professionals who master the fundamental theories and methods of international trade, understand the operational mechanisms and development patterns of domestic and international economic and trade activities, possess strong professional skills in international trade, and demonstrate a global perspective and excellent cross-cultural communication abilities. Courses include International Trade Theory, International Trade Practices, International Commercial Law, Cross-Border E-Commerce, and International Business Negotiation. Graduation Requirements: Complete the required credits, fulfill the graduation internship and thesis requirements, and pass the HSK Level 4 exam.
(2) Marketing (Cross-Border E-Commerce Track) (Bachelor's Degree)

Program Description: The Marketing major of Fuzhou University of International Studies and Trade is a pilot program for innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in Fujian Province, a provincial-level applied discipline in Business Administration, and a core program within the provincial-level demonstration cluster of applied modern commerce and trade services. In the 2025 China University Top-Tier Majors Ranking (Applied Type) by AiRuiShen China Alumni Association, it was selected as a 6-star "China's Top Applied Major," ranking third nationally and first in Fujian Province. Rooted in the needs of regional digital economic development and focused on the fields of digital commerce and digital trade, this program centers on two major specializations: AI Marketing and Cross-Border E-Commerce Marketing. It equips students with a systematic understanding of knowledge and methodologies in management and economics, enabling them to accurately grasp cutting-edge marketing technologies and trends. Students will develop solid practical skills in market research and analysis, e-commerce and new media marketing planning, brand strategy management, and cross-cultural communication. Students will develop forward-thinking, innovative, and exploratory mindsets in marketing, and will be proficient in applying AI technologies, new media tools, and cross-border e-commerce platforms. They will be prepared for careers in e-commerce entrepreneurship, international marketing planning, new media operations, and international trade management. Graduation Requirements: Complete the required credits, fulfill the graduation internship and thesis requirements, and pass the HSK Level 4 exam.

III. Application Requirements
(1) Non-Chinese citizens aged 18--25 (as of September 1, 2026), in good physical and mental health, and holding a valid foreign ordinary passport;
(2) In accordance with relevant regulations, applicants who are ethnic Chinese with foreign nationality—including former Chinese citizens who have acquired foreign nationality and their foreign-nationality children, as well as the foreign-nationality children of Chinese citizens—must pass both the preliminary nationality review conducted by the university during the admission phase and the subsequent nationality verification conducted by the entry-exit management department of the Chinese public security authorities after enrollment. Those who fail to pass the preliminary nationality review or the nationality verification will be deemed to have automatically forfeited their application eligibility and any subsequent admission or student status.
(3) Pursuant to Article 5 of the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, individuals born with foreign nationality whose parents are both or one of whom is a Chinese citizen residing abroad do not possess Chinese nationality. Effective 2021, applicants seeking admission to our university's undergraduate program as international students must, in addition to meeting the university's other eligibility requirements, hold a valid foreign passport or proof of foreign nationality for at least four years (inclusive) and have a record of actual residence abroad for at least two years within the most recent four-year period (as of April 30 of the enrollment year). (A period of nine months or more of actual residence abroad within a calendar year shall be counted as one year, as evidenced by entry and exit stamps.) Residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan who apply to enroll in our university's undergraduate program as international students after immigrating and obtaining foreign citizenship must also meet these requirements.
(4)Applicants should have no criminal record or behavior, be friendly towards China, have good conduct, abide by Chinese laws and school regulations, and respect the customs and habits of the Chinese people.
IV. Application Materials
(1) "Fuzhou University of International Studies and Trade Application Form for International Students" (scan the QR code to download).
(2) A scanned copy of the first page of your passport (ordinary passport, valid until after January 1, 2027).
(3) Birth certificate.
(4) Parents' identification documents.
(5) High school diploma or proof of expected graduation, bearing the official seal of the school.
High school diplomas must be certified by the Ministry of Education or Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant's home country.
Students applying with a pre-graduation certificate must obtain their graduation certificate before enrollment in September 2026 and complete the aforementioned academic credential authentication.
Graduation certificates obtained within mainland China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) do not require authentication.
Upon enrollment, applicants must present the original graduation certificate and authentication documents for verification.
(6) Official high school transcripts, bearing the school's official seal.
Current high school graduates must submit academic transcripts for all years of high school.
High school graduates must submit a complete transcript of their high school academic records.
Results from the national high school entrance examination in the applicant's home country or internationally recognized standardized tests, such as UEC, A-Level, AP, IB, SAT, or ACT.
(7) English proficiency certificate.
Applicants whose high school instruction was conducted in English may submit a certificate of language of instruction issued by their high school in lieu of an English proficiency certificate. Applicants from countries where English is the official language are exempt from submitting proof of English proficiency.
(8) Personal Statement.
No fewer than 500 words, covering a self-introduction, academic background, and goals and plans for studying in China. Applicants for English-taught programs must submit this in English.
(9) "Physical Examination Form for Foreign Nationals" (scan the QR code to download) and scanned copies of the relevant original reports. The form must be completed in Chinese or English and bear the official seal of the hospital. The physical examination results are valid for 6 months.
(10) "Fuzhou University of International Studies and Trade International Student Financial Guarantee Form" (scan the QR code to download) and scanned copies of supporting documents. These must be completed in Chinese or English and include a bank statement demonstrating sufficient funds to cover reasonable expenses for tuition, living costs, and international travel during the applicant's study period in China, as well as scanned copies of the guarantor's (limited to the applicant or a relative) passport or ID. Applicants for scholarships must also submit the Financial Guarantee Form.
(11) Certificate of No Criminal Record. Applicants must submit a valid Certificate of No Criminal Record issued by the local public security authorities, typically dated within six months prior to the application submission date.
(12) A recent 2-inch digital photograph of the applicant.
V. Application Procedure

Eligibility Review and Admission Test:Within two weeks of submitting your application, the school will complete the eligibility review and notify you of the interview arrangements. Only applicants who pass the interview will be granted admission. If you do not receive a response, please contact us via email (fuist-study@fzfu.edu.cn).
Letter of Provisional Admission and Payment of Registration Fee:Upon completion of the admission process, we will issue a letter of conditional admission. After receiving the letter, please promptly pay the registration fee (non-refundable) and the bed reservation fee, and send a scanned copy of the payment receipt to the school's email (fuist-study@fzfu.edu.cn; please include your name, contact information, and other basic details in the email);
Submission of Documents and Payment:We will send electronic copies of the "Letter of Admission" and the "Confirmation Form for International Students Coming to China" to your email. Please transfer the tuition and other fees to the university's bank account within the specified timeframe, and send a scanned copy of the payment receipt to the university email (fuist-study@fzfu.edu.cn; please include your name, contact information, and other basic details in the email).
Applying for a Chinese Visa:International students must apply for a Chinese entry visa at the consular section of the Chinese embassy or consulate in their home country. Required documents for the visa application include: a valid passport, the Letter of Admission, the Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (JW202), and the medical examination form.
Registration:Please bring your living expenses, passport, Letter of Admission, Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (JW202), medical examination form (students who underwent medical examinations abroad must undergo another examination in Fuzhou), and 10 recent 2-inch photos. Report to the university for registration on the date specified in the Letter of Admission. To avoid complications caused by visa expiration, please do not enter China too early and report to the university as soon as possible after arrival.
(II) Visa and Insurance
Visa: Admitted students must present the Admission Notice and the Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (JW202) (JW202) to the Chinese Embassy to apply for a student visa to China. Students with a study period of 6 months or longer must apply for an X1 visa and convert it to a study residence permit within 30 days of arriving in China.
Insurance: According to regulations of the Chinese Ministry of Education, international students must purchase medical insurance valid within China; otherwise, the university will not process registration. Please pay the insurance premium before entering the country.

(1) Selection Criteria:
Scholarships for the first academic year are awarded based on high school GPA rankings, and recipients must pass the university's entrance exam;
Starting from the second academic year, scholarships are awarded based on the comprehensive evaluation results from the previous academic year (students who pass the evaluation will be ranked in order of merit; those who fail will be reclassified as self-funded students).
(2) Note: Students in English-taught programs are not eligible to concurrently receive the Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students.
